That he "bought" from the Higa Group with no bank loan at an interest rate of 5 percent, when the market was 12 percent. That [b]Higa "sold" without profit, as the Wall Street Journal reported last week. [b]That upon which he mclaims to "be quiet". But that we don’t thinks it ,is OK and we can’t approve his silence. His opacity. His reluctance to transparent, to explain. Accepting the conflict of interest and giving his resignation.. The transaction of his house in Malinalco is legally permissible, ethically unacceptable, harming the Mexican IRS and the country.
Because what happened denies any functioning democracy should be named "appearance of impropriety". [b]The use of a position of power to ensure private privileges, such as obtaining a house less than half its real value. The misuse of his position as a close character to president Enrique Peña Nieto, for a prime loan than no other citizen could have achieved. The violation of standards of conduct that any public official should respect, so vital for citizens to have complete confidence in the integrity of the government. Videgaray, to do what he did, violated his duty, his mission, his purpose as someone in public and political life of the country.
And he could argue that it did not violate any law. That he did not act against any regulation. Such as Samuel Butler wrote that "cannibalism is moral in a country of cannibals". If the law does not sanction the conflict of interest, then go ahead. If the rules do not set the old PRI allow the enrichment of the new PRI, what Could be better. Like so many others, Luis Videgaray benefits from the low standards of the era.
Standards at the ground, that nobody perceives or criticize or denounce, because they were pillars of the PRI. The allowed practice was and still does, is to come to power only to get house, to promote business, to award any contracts, to traffic influences. And I have here a cause of political corruption and one of the triggers of social inequality and the roots of economic backwardness. -for Decision favorable Higa Group and other firms in exchange for performing payments.
