Recreational use is not much different from medical use. In the year 2000 I went to prison for growing cannabis in my back yard, a little more than a kilo. After two months I was liberated after my family paid a lawyers fee of almost 10 000 dollars. Of course they did not believe that I was not going to sell because of the huge amount of plants. I felt like I opened the door to thieves and I saw that fighting that war, cops, judges and lawyers were acting as thieves and had fall into negativeness, doing evil to the others. What should I do to pay those who helped me? I studied Spanish literature in college so I began defending decriminalization writing on Internet sites. It wouldn´t help me but it could help others to avoid the same risk if my writings have en effect and laws change, but my writings and my argues and arguments didn't change the illegal status of cannabis. People keep going to jail for using marihuana as an anti-depressive medicine and relatives keep paying the bills of that action and those who fight the drug war keep doing evil, legal evil, when they confiscate properties and send people to jail just because they want to feel good, to have hunger, to laugh, to release pain and to sleep well and to acquaint that they smoke pot. Afterwards I quit smoking and I noticed some positive change in my relations with society but I still think that what they are doing with prosecution is not good, is not positive, is not intelligent. Today other drugs have an increasing popularity, meth, crack, coke, but they are related to drug cartels and the consequent actions are resumed in just two words, death and high rates of criminality, and the worst is that now they blame the consumers for this situation, the organization of criminal activities and the formation of big enterprises that retail drugs... The commerce of pot now belong to organized criminals. There's no security at all and innocent people have been murdered without reason and with check points and vigilance we have fall into a stage of siege and drug stores keep functioning 24 hrs. and nobody says nothing, only commenting that political leaders sells twice the "plaza",the right to sell without having problems, and it results a war between cartels. They justify prohibition cause they think that modifies the behavior of consumers. I agree that hard drugs are bad for health and for economy of individuals but not natural cannabis that every body can grow. After a long term use I don´t feel a real damage and the only reason for quitting was the legal pressure, the social pressure. I don't think that the stage in which we are living is something we deserve, you should read the local news, it's against reason. Something that turns good people like cops, lawyers and judges into bad people like thieves should not exist and I sincerely expect for the benefit of the others more scientific and serious studies on the effect of cannabis come, and I also hope that decriminalization arrives someday and situation of violence change. This is something that we mexicans, the good people between us, deserve. Thanks...
